US strikes Syria after chemical attack

The US fired 59 Tomahawk cruise missiles on a Syrian air base last night, in effort to destroy equipment and send a message that use of chemical weapons is not ok. This attack was on the same air base from which a chemical weapons attack was reportedly launched on civilians earlier this week. More than 80 people were killed in that attack and many more injured. President Trump indicated that he ordered the airstrikes in the US’s national security to stop the use of chemical weapons. Russian forces had troops at the base and were warned ahead of the attack. It is reported that six people were killed.
