Donald Trump said yesterday that  as president he would halt all Muslim immigration to the United States. The Republican presidential candidate announced in a press release  that he believes a “total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country’s representatives can figure out what is going on”  is warranted.  He further clarified this morning on various news outlets that Muslim-American citizens that leave the country should be allowed to return, and though he cited FDR’s WWII policy, that he does not advocate internment camps.

The incendiary comments are keeping Trump in the forefront, even if as the target of fellow party members and patriots.  Muslim American military members have expressed that this makes their job more difficult and Republican House Speaker Paul Ryan rebukes Trump saying his comments “are not who we are as a party.”
