Area youth will have the unique opportunity to learn the ins and outs of starting a business, thanks to Entrepreneur Camp hosted by Pride Entrepreneur Education Program (PEEP), in collaboration with Academic Achievers. The camp runs June 15 through July 1 at Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte. Once they’ve learned the dos and don’ts of entrepreneurship, the students will participate in the ‘Marketplace Showcase’ where they will sell products they have created and pitch their business ideas that were born during the camp.

Camp participants will travel the business development path through classroom instruction, hands-on activities and as they meet local business owners. The camp is offered at no cost to participants.

“We are extremely pleased to offer this Entrepreneur Camp program thanks to our organization’s partnership with Academic Achievers,” said Pauline Feimster, executive director of PEEP. “In today’s economic climate and challenging job market, it is critical that we teach our youth to be entrepreneurial thinkers.”

“We are thrilled to be able to offer this camp for free to all participants,” explained Laila Minot, co-founder of Academic Achievers/S&L Consultants. “This experience will be priceless for these students because our team will be teaching them lessons that aren’t taught in the traditional classroom.”  There is still time to register for the Entrepreneur Camp by calling 980.355.0968 by June 10.
