Most schools in the path of Hurricane Florence have announced closing.
Duke University | classes will be canceled after 5 p.m. Wednesday. The severe weather policy will be effective at noon on Thursday. |
East Carolina University | will not hold classes scheduled to start after 12 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11 and will not hold classes for the remainder of this week. |
NC Central University | has cancelled all classes on Wednesday, Sept. 12, Thursday, Sept. 13, and Friday, Sept. 14. |
NC State University | Closed Thursday on Thursday, September 13
Closed Friday on Friday, September 14 |
UNC Chapel Hill | Closing at 5pm on Tuesday, September 11 |
Winston-Salem State University | is cancelling all classes and student activities for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, Sept. 13-15. |
The University of North Carolina-Wilmington issued a mandatory evacuation for all students starting at noon Tuesday ahead of Florence.
Elizabeth City State University is closed.
In Virginia, Norfolk State University and Old Dominion University have closed
In South Carolina, The University of South Carolina, Francis Marion, The Citadel,
College of Charleston, Coastal Carolina University, Claflin University, SC State and Benedict have announced closure.
