Oscars Exhibited in Beverly Hills

No white out at the Oscars this year.  This morning Tiffany Haddish and Andy Serkis announced the nominees which included some notable nominees and a handfull of firsts.  Mary J. Blige received a nomination for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her turn as Florence Jackson in Mudbound, and for Best Original Song. Blige is also the first actor to be nominated in a film directed by a woman of color.

Get Out received several nominations including Jordan Peele for Best Director and Daniel Kaluuya for Best Actor in a Leading Role. The film also landed nominations for Best Picture and  Best Original Screenplay.

Rachel Morrison, made history as the first female cinematographer to ever receive an Oscar nominations as cinematographer for Mudbound. Octavia Spencer received a nomination for The Shape of Water, now tied with Viola Davis as the most nominated Black actress in Oscar history. The Oscars air on March 4.
