Five police officers were shot and killed late Thursday evening during a peaceful Dallas Black Lives Matter protest. Late night, officials incorrectly identified a man named Mark Hughes as a suspected shooter, and splashed his photo across social media, asking for help in finding him. In actuality, Hughes was peaceably participating in the protest, reportedly laughing and joking with police officers before the ambush. Despite eventually approaching the police and handing over his firearm (he was carrying legally), Hughes was taken into custody and interrogated.  The lone shooter has since been identified as 25 yr. old Micah Johnson.
