Update: 2:38 p.m. – UCLA Police Chief James Herren confirmed that two people are dead following reports of a shooting on the campus of UCLA. Herren could not confirmed whether the victims were the shooter, whether there are more victims and if there is a suspect in the shooting.

LAPD and UCLA Police are searching for an active shooter after reports of a shooting near the engineering building in the center of the UCLA campus at 10 a.m. PT. There have been several media reports that two people have been shot or killed in the incident, but LAPD Capt. Andy Neiman said he could not confirm those reports. CNN however reported that two people have been confirmed dead according to UCLA.

UCLA students and staff have been told to shelter in place. This is the last week of classes before finals at UCLA. Anyone who is not onsite has been told to stay away from the campus.
