NBC has firmed up the cast for its highly anticipated The Wiz LIVE, now set for broadcast on December 2. The 3-hour LIVE event production of the groundbreaking Broadway show features an all star cast starring David Alan Grier as the Cowardly Lion, Shanice Williams as Dorothy, Queen Latfiah as The Wiz, Ne-Yo as the Tin Man and Elijah Kelley as the Scarecrow.
The original Broadway hit birthed a feature film starring Diana Ross and Michael Jackson. Now, Executive Producers Craig Zadan and Director Kenny Leon’s The Wiz Live! present the third live musical to air on NBC. The two previous being 2013’s The Sound of Music, starring Carrie Underwood and Audra McDonald, and 2014’s Peter Pan, featuring Allison Williams and Christopher Walken.
