Today’s world is full of moving parts. Most of us are experts at multi-tasking. Rarely are we able to focus on just one thing at a time as we manage through our day to day lives. I was working on a project recently and realized after hours of being frustrated about how long it was taking me to reach completion, I had been fitting phone calls and text messages in while working toward a finish.

My project suffered in some ways by my dividing my focus across other tasks. Had the project had my complete attention, I’m confident that it wouldn’t have taken as long to complete and perhaps would have ended up even better than it did.

Many of us are so accustomed to rushing here and rushing there, fitting in this or that and before we know it, we are on to another day without any downtime.

With everything that goes on in a given day, where are we fitting in time with the Lord? Setting a time in the day where nothing else is competing and sitting quietly in prayer and reflection is critical to our lives. It is in the time spent reading the Word of God in meditation that we can build our relationship with the Lord and obtain the guidance and insight that we require in our daily lives.

I used to have a teacher years ago that would say to the students, “quiet down, I can’t hear myself think!”   There were times that I felt the same way, quiet time was at a premium, none to be had on any given day.

When I made the commitment that no matter what is going on, I will have included in my day, prayer and reflection time with the Lord my entire outlook changed. It was one of the best decisions I ever made.

My time of meditation and prayer is a sacred time when I allow absolutely nothing to interfere. The phone is set on “do not disturb” the television is off along with the computer as I embrace that designated time as a private meeting time with the Lord. The value has been immeasurable and the clarity and peace that I walk away with, boosts the remainder of my day.

There is instruction is in Matthew 6:6, “but when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.”

There is no greater time spent in my day than the time I spend in prayer. Setting that time aside for yourself will be the best investment you will make. Without delay book your appointment today.
