  Charlotte has named North Carolina State Sen. Dan Clodfelter mayor , replacing Patrick Cannon. Cannon resigned about two weeks ago, following his arrest on federal corruption chages. Clodfelter, was chosen by the City Council over former Council member James “Smuggie” Mitchell.
