Republican voters have chosen Edwin Peacock to represent them in the general election in November. However, Democratic voters will vote in a runoff to decide which candidate will represent them in the run to be Charlotte’s next mayor.

Last night Jennifer Roberts pulled in 36 percent of the vote, 4 percent short of the 40 percent needed to win outright. She will compete with current mayor Dan Clodfelter, who collected 26 percent of the vote Tuesday.

The four top vote getters in the race for the at-large city council seat will move on to compete in November. They are Vi Lyles, James (Smuggie) Mitchell, Julie Eiselt and Claire Green Fallon. Democrats in Districts 2, 3 and 5 have chosen Al Austin, Lawana Mayfield and John Autry respectively to represent them.
