CeCe Winans brought a packed Kennedy Center to it’s feet in a tribute to honoree Cicely Tyson, 90. Tyson was celebrated at the 2015 Kennedy Center Honors and Winans brought guests, including President Barack Obama and R&B superstar Usher to tears with a powerful performance of “Blessed Assurance”. Joined by Terence Blanchard and the Cicely Tyson Community School of Performing and Fine Arts Choir, it was one of several stellar tributes that night that aired in a two-hour special, which garnered 7.5 million viewers.
