President Barack Obama and Russian leader Vladimir Putin haven’t always seen eye-to-eye, but Monday they will come face-to-face to lay lingering issues between their countries on the table. This will be the first time the two have met in almost a year. “It appears that President Putin is convinced that his position would benefit from a conversation with President Obama,” said a White House spokesman. “And given the lengthy list of concerns that we have about Russia’s conduct in a couple of these international hot spots, a face-to-face sit-down seems appropriate at this juncture.” President Obama and President Putin will reportedly discuss Syria and ISIS during the meeting at the United Nations. Research Shows Killers of Black Men Are Less Likely to Get Executed
A new report shows that there are both racial and gender disparities when it comes to capital punishment. According to the study released by Loyola University, 15,000 Black men have been murdered between the years 1976 and 2011 in Louisiana. There were 62 people sentenced to death for these murders, and only 3 people were executed. Over the same time span, 1,300 White women were killed, 89 of the people responsible were sentenced to death, and there were 18 executions. The execution rate for taking a White woman’s life was 48 times higher than for Black men. Read more.
Fetty Wap Hit with Three Summonses after Motorcycle Accident
Fetty Wap is in hot water after a motorcycle crash that occurred in his hometown of Paterson, New Jersey this weekend. Fetty, whose real name is Willie Maxwell, got hit with three summonses by police officials for not having a vehicle registration card, not having insurance, and driving without a license. The “Trap Queen” artist suffered injuries after slamming his dad’s motorcycle into a car on Saturday. One other woman was injured. Read more.
