There is a text circulating among iPhone users that exploits a bug in the Apple operating system. If you send this text to your friends, it will reset their phone.
A very specific string of characters copied and pasted it into a text and sent to a friend, will crash their phone. However, it only works if you send it to someone who also has an iPhone. It won’t work if you or the recipient has a Windows or Android phone.
To protect your phone until Apple finds a fix, you can avoid it by turning off your message notifications.
Steps to do this:
- Go to settings
- Click on Notifications
- Click on Messages
- Slide across the button that says ‘Allow Notifications’ until it is no longer green.
