The scandal at UNC Chapel Hill has rocked the collegiate sports world. The debate about paying college athletes has always hinged up this idea that the players are getting and education in exchange for their talent. Now, an investigation has revealed that for 18 years, athletes took fake “African American Studies” classes while UNC staff gave artificial grades to keep student-athletes eligible. And academic counselors often steered students to these courses. More than 3,100 students have been passed through these fake classes!
