Community, Officials Discuss Crime Solutions in Sugar Creek

Frustrated by years of crime, more than 100 residents and business owners gathered Wednesday evening at the Sugaw Creek Recreation Center to demand solutions for ongoing issues in North Charlotte’s Sugar Creek corridor. According to WCCb, the area around West Sugar Creek Road and Reagan Drive has long struggled with drug activity, prostitution, and violent crime—problems residents say have worsened due to its location near I-85. City and county officials, along with police, listened as neighbors voiced concerns about being overlooked for nearly a decade. Community members say they’re ready for action, not promises, to make their neighborhood safer.
