Pastor Mike McBride Talks State of the People Power Tour a

Pastor Mike McBride, co-founder of the Black Church PAC, called in to Get Up Mornings with Erica Campbell to share the heart and mission behind the State of the People Power Tour—a nationwide movement designed to bring relief, healing, and mobilization to Black communities across the country.

Erica opened the conversation by asking about the goal of the tour, which Pastor Mike explained is a two-day experience aimed at both healing and activation. “We are moving toward 10 cities, seeking to build, rally, and provide relief and support for Black communities suffering under the conditions created by new laws and policies,” he said. From dismantled education systems to the reduction of food assistance programs, Pastor Mike emphasized the urgent need for community support and organized response.

The first day of the tour, dubbed the “Day of Release and Day of Resilience,” will focus on providing tangible resources—mental health care, food distribution, clothing drives, and healing spaces. “The scripture tells us that we ought to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, and bring into our homes those who are unhoused,” he said. “It’s about extending love and justice in action.”

The second day will feature a large-scale rally with speakers, town halls, and community engagement. “We’re going to do all we can to bring people together,” Pastor Mike shared. “Because when we’re together, we’re better and stronger.”

Co-host Griff jumped in to applaud Pastor Mike for staying connected to the streets. “You are like the last of the pastors that’s really out here,” Griff said. When asked what keeps him going, Pastor Mike didn’t hesitate: “Because I follow Jesus the way the Bible say.” He elaborated, “I believe that God gives us the power of the Spirit to heal both the soul and the body… Love in public is what we call justice.”

While Pastor Mike humbly brushed off the idea that he’s the only one doing this kind of work, he emphasized that there are many more like him nationwide. “Don’t believe the hype,” he said. “I’m not Elijah, the only prophet out here. We got a host of pastors, community leaders, violence interrupters, and healers joining this movement.”
