New York — Since 2004, the city of New York has absorbed close to $42 million in unpaid lunch fees.

Many New York city parents haven’t paid what they are required to for school lunches, and many school principals are stuck trying to collect the money from them.

Since 2004, the city has absorbed at least $42 million in unpaid lunch fees. But the city can no longer afford these fees and many of these children may face a full day of school with empty stomachs.
