Magic Back With Lakers

Magic Johnson was named president of basketball operations of the Los Angeles Lakers yesterday after the organization relieved Jim Buss from his post as executive vice president of basketball operations. General manager, Mitch Kupchak was released as well, and a search is on for a new GM. Johnson returned to the organization earlier this month in an advisory capacity, before being assigned his new post. Sports Illustrated has reported that Johnson will be stepping down from his role with ESPN.
