This morning, President Barack Obama laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknowns, in honor of military men and women who died in service, continuing a longstanding presidential tradition. He noted that we should honor the fallen by caring for their families left behind, as well as their friends who come home from battle, saying “We need to be there not just when we need them, but when they need us.”

The United States currently has special operations forces serving in Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan, and has lost 20 members of the armed forces in combat within the last year

The President also held a breakfast at the White House this morning for family members of fallen service members and veterans groups.
