Kentucky County Clerk Defies Supreme Court Ruling And Refuses To Issue Same Sex Marriage Licenses

Kim Davis, Kentucky county clerk who was jailed after disobeying court orders to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples is back at work today. A judge has ordered Davis to “not interfere” with the issuance though she herself will not be required to do so. Davis read a statement upon returning to work that said she was torn between her faith and responsibilities, and that though she won’t authorize the licenses, she won’t block them from going out. Brian Mason, a deputy clerk, will now issue them. The issued licenses will not have Davis’ name on them.
