Iran, the United States and five other world powers, have agreed on a deal to table Tehran’s nuclear program for more than a decade in exchange for lifting international sanctions on the country. The agreement includes a compromise between the U.S. and Iran to grant United Nations inspectors access to Iranian military sites for monitoring. The deal will now go to the UN Security Council, and President Obama must get it past Congress. Congress has 60 days to approve or reject it. The President is expecting resistance and is warning against the danger of not accepting the agreement, saying it would mean “a greater chance of more war in the Middle East”.
