What Did The Shooter Say That Lets Us Know It’s a Hate Crime?
Sylvia Johnson, cousin of church shooting victim Pastor Senator Clementa Pinckney offers an account of the shooters remarks before opening fire. The gunman, now identified as Dylan Roof killed nine people during bible study at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, South Carolina. Johnson says a survivor told her the gunman said, “I have to do it. You rape our women and you’re taking over the country. You have to go.”
