In celebration of Black History Month, JCSU is will present a lecture and discussion series across academic, social and political boundaries. The following events are free and open to the community:
Event: Film screening and discussion led by the JCSU Political Science Association
Date: Feb. 6, 4 p.m.- 5:30 p.m. in McCrorey Hall, Room 205
Topic: The Neo-African-Americans: How Rapid, Voluntary Immigration from Africa and the Caribbean is Transforming the “African-American” Narrative
Event: The Politics of Business: How to Prepare for the Corporate World, a panel discussion with community members who will share their experiences as business professionals.

Event: Black History Month Keynote Address
Date: Feb. 13, 4 p.m. – 6 p.m., Mary Taylor Crisp Student Union
Topic: African Americans and the Struggle for Human Rights in the 21st Century
by Dr. Keith Jennings, regional director of the National Democratic Institute (NDI)
Event: Film screening of “Negros with Guns: Robert Williams and Black Power,” and lecture by Dr. Timothy Tyson, visiting professor of American Christianity and Southern Culture, Duke University; author of “Radio Free Dixie: Robert F. Williams and the Roots of Black Power.”
Date: Feb. 17, 4 p.m. – 6 p.m., Mary Taylor Crisp Student Union
Topic: Robert F. Williams was a civil rights activist and student at Johnson C. Smith University. This lecture series is devoted to examining the social movement activism of young people of color in the South.
