When my son saw the trailer for the Karate Kid featuring Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith several months ago he made me promise to take him to see the movie the day it opened. So, on Friday, I loaded him and several friends in the car and took them to the movies. I had a friend of my own with me and she wasn’t too excited about seeing the movie. I wasn’t ask skeptical as she was, but I wasn’t really looking forward to watching Karate Kid. I wasn’t a fan of the original and didn’t think I would like the new movie.
Boy was I wrong.
I enjoyed watching Jackie Chan, Taraji and Jaden in the movie. Taraji had a small part in the movie, but she was fabulous as usual. Jaden Smith proved that he has the acting gene, even crying several times when the part called for it … a believable cry.
It’s a cute movie, fit for a family night out.
