Detroit, MI — Karew recording artist Jonathan Nelson may intend to finish strong, but he also started out strong with a #1 debut on Billboard’s Top Gospel Album chart. The album titled Finish Strong also entered at #2 on iTunes’ Top Selling Christian/Gospel Albums chart.
Finish Strong is Nelson’s first recording on Karew Records, distributed by Motown Gospel. This week, the album’s title single jumps to #21 on Billboard’s Hot Gospel Songs chart with the #1 most increased spins (+125) and the #1 most increased in audience (+395,000) at gospel radio. “God is truly amazing,” says Nelson. “I’m super amped, grateful and excited that my faithful supporters, Karew family, and fellow artists have helped me to earn my first #1 Gospel Billboard charting CD. A leader in urban contemporary worship and praise, Nelson penned the single with Kenneth Shelton. “Finish Strong” captures the message of the whole album—whatever God has for you to do, you must continue to go after it, never give up and finish strong. It is a universal message that will appeal to a broad audience. Nelson co-wrote most of the songs on the CD, which has something for every musical taste, from traditional church songs, to praise and worship, to choir songs.
Nelson’s Finish Strong promotional tour wrapped up dates in his hometown of Baltimore, New York City, Philadelphia, Houston, Atlanta, Nashville, New Orleans, and Memphis. The promotional tour will continue on to Dallas, TX (Sunday, May 5), Shreveport, LA (Monday, May 6), Little Rock, AR (Tuesday, May 7) and Jackson, MS (Wednesday, May 8).
