It’s wedding season! And all we ever talk about is how much it costs to throw a wedding. But what about how much it costs to attend a wedding? That’s pretty expensive, too, right? A new American Express survey found the average wedding guest will spend, on average, $539 this year. That includes the price of a new outfit, travel, and gift for the couple.
This figure is up a whopping $200 since last year. If you’re part of the wedding, it’s even more — $577 per person.
Here’s how it breaks down:
Travel: Getting to the location will set you back an estimated $167.
Apparel: Buying a new outfit for the special day costs around $161.
Wedding gift: A present for the happy couple costs $108 on average. If it is for a family member, the price rises to $179.
