For several weeks, officials at the Quail Hollow Championship had a contingency plan in place should Tiger Woods decide to play the Charlotte event.
Those plans went into action Thursday when Woods committed to play the April 26-May 2 event at the Quail Hollow Club.
Unlike previous years when Woods has typically waited until just before the commitment deadline the Friday before tournament week, he made the announcement more than a week before the entry cutoff.
“We obviously like to see him playing,” golfer Jim Furyk said.
“It’s eight days early (committing). That’s actually nice to get that over with and move on.”
