I happened upon this post on MadameNoire.com. It’s a spoof of the Real Housewives of Atlanta titled the Real Housewives of Civil Rights. In the spoof, women of the Civil Rights movement (Coretta Scott King, Winnie Mandela, Rosa Parks, Maya Angelou, Betty Shabazz, and Marilyn Monroe) play off the events of the time period, character exaggerations and stereotypes, while simultaneously highlighting the foolishness associated with their TV predecessors on RHOA.
The ladies worked with Wayne Brady, who has a cameo in the video as Martin Luther King Jr., to put the project together. I personally didn’t find the video funny … but it wasn’t offensive to me either. It was just … a video.
What do you think? Do you think they went too far?
