Several dozen women donned hijabs and carried signs supporting Muslims at a rally in Uptown on Wednesday. They chanted, and explained why some women choose to wear the hijab, or head scarf. The small gathering was passionate and vocal at Romare Bearden Park during a time when hate crimes are on the rise, and members of the Muslim community are ostracized by the President Donald Trump and targeted by extremist.
