Gov. Andrew Cuomo wants to make New York’s public colleges totally free. Under Cuomo’s plan, students or students from families that make $125,000 or less a year would pay nothing to attend any two or four-year public college in NY state. The proposal has support from Sen. Bernie Sanders and believe this is an important step towards leveling the playing field. However the ideas opponents say that taxpayers are going to have to pay for all of this. If it’s passed, NY could be the first state to approve a plan like this.
