10th grader Akilah Johnson’s drawing was selected from 100,000 submissions for the search engine’s “Doodle 4 Google” competition. Titled “My Afrocentric Life”, Johnson designed the winning entry using just crayons, colored pencils and Sharpies. Colorful symbolism of black life – and black power – illustrate and spells out the word “Google.”

Google’s Doodle competition this year was about “What Makes Me…Me”. The teenager, who attends Eastern Senior High School in D.C., will receive a $30,000 college scholarship and another $50,000 education-technology grant for her school.
