When I was younger my mother sang in my cousin Larry’s gospel group. They traveled all over North Carolina singing in churches. They would have those churches rocking, and I loved to feel the floor bounce under my feet when they sang the fast songs – but those weren’t my favorite moments. I loved the slow-tempo, heart wrenching songs that offered a testimony. One of my favorites was “Still Holding On” by Luther Barnes and the Red Budd Gospel Choir.
