Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. –2 Corinthians 5:17
This scripture is here to remind and encourage YOU today. You see, it is a NEW DAY for you. If you are in Christ, then every day is a fresh start. When we ask God for forgiveness, in Christ, then we start every day FRESH – free from the bondage of sin. The problems and challenges of yesterday are all gone and you can start today with no worries. Not only free from the bonds of the past but also from the worries of the future.
In Matthew 6, Jesus teaches the disciples, and us, how to pray. He tells us to say, “give us this day our daily bread.”
Later in the same chapter, Jesus tells us not to worry about tomorrow, because tomorrow has its own challenges. In Christ, our focus should be not on yesterday or tomorrow. In Christ, our focus should be on making the most of the here and now. So often we are focused on what we did in the past or what we are going to do in the future. If not that, we focus on what the people around us are doing. We need be transformed in our thinking. Stop comparing yourself to others. Stop looking to your left and right. Stop looking backward or forward. LOOK UP! Focus on Jesus and the gift of this very precious moment right now. In Christ, you are not of the world. You are greater than this world. God will lift you above the cares of this world. Every day. Every moment. The past is history. The future is a mystery. The present is a gift. Our hope is in Christ, so hope never dies. Hope springs eternal. ALL THINGS ARE NEW!
