Richmond, VA – With more than 100,000 radio stations around the world and some of the top radio stations belonging to Radio One and Clear Channel it is safe to say that radio isn’t going anywhere. National artists are still dependent on radio air play for exposure however they are no longer limited to being at the mercy of Program and Music Directors to play their music.
Thanks to Androids, iphones, Pandora, youtube and other internet radio stations, national and independent radio artists can now safely say and know that someone will play and hear their music.
From American Idol to Sunday Best, many of today’s up and coming artists are taking their small opportunities and are building a career out of their fifteen minutes of fame. Back ground singers for some of the countries top performers are now standing center stage with strong solo Billboard charting Careers, from Zacardy Cortez to Smokie Norful to Isaac Carree.
The latest group set to take center stage is Resound with much of their music being played on youtube. Based out of Richmond, VA, the trio includes Jessica Fox, Joseph Clarke and Mariah Hargrove who say, after singing background for Troy Sneed on his latest project, opportunities have been knocking. Even on Sunday, the groups manager Martina Jones-Smith says, “We just received a call to perform on the hit show ‘Sing-Off’, an a cappella competition reality show. It’s calls like that we are starting to receive more of each day.”
However, even as their schedule continues to pick up dates, Martina says “It’s a pleasure working with such gifted young adults who put God first and understand that their talents are truly a gift from God.” The group also says it is because of youtube and their manager they have been getting many of their booking dates.
