JCSU HealthPlex Offers Free Services To Northwest Community
Charlotte, N.C., – Jan. 8, 2013 – Beginning Jan. 22, Johnson C. Smith
University’s HealthPlex will offer a free weight management program for
the community of the Northwest Corridor. Twelve group sessions will be
held Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m. at the HealthPlex located near Brayboy
Gymnasium. The goal of the program is to help participants learn how to
maintain healthy lifestyles by creating good eating habits and
exercising regularly.
Each session will provide educational resources, group support and
practical exercise techniques. Participants will receive personalized
exercise programs along with one-on-one goal setting assistance. The
HealthPlex will also feature other programs this winter, to include:
free water fitness and yoga classes, health coaching and the “workout of
the week.”
A healthy cooking demonstration is scheduled for Jan. 25 at 12:15 p.m.
and Feb. 7 at 5:30 p.m. OrthoCarolina will start off the healthy living
seminar series on Feb. 26 at 5:30 p.m., with a presentation on knee
cartilage restoration. The university will also start an eight-week
fitness challenge beginning on Feb. 4, and offer the Discover Scuba
program, where participants will learn basic scuba diving skills. For
