Tim Bowman Jr. shook up the gospel world with his mesmerizing scatting on his aunt Vickie Winans’ 2009 Top 10 radio smash, “How I Got Over.” Last year, he and Winans reteamed for their ultra cool Top 20 radio hit, “He Will.” The sophisticated black and white video of the smooth jazzy track has garnered over 100,000 YouTube hits and received airplay on BET, Centric and JCTV. Now, the 22-year old Wayne State University pharmacy student is standing in the spotlight on his own as Trippin ‘N Rhythm Records/Sony Red releases his new pulsating radio single, “Free.”

Bowman co-wrote the inspiring song with producer/composer, Josh Davis. “Free is a song that is very dear to me because it is a song that I can relate to myself,” says Bowman. “As a young person in a traditional church setting where things are sometimes so cookie cutter, or strict it kinda makes it a little challenging for young people my age to express themselves as it relates to their way of worshipping God. So this song just simply declares that I’m free to worship, free to shout, free to dance without any restraints or reservations. I want all of my music to cause people to feel again and to be liberated to worship God. So I encourage everyone to declare and walk in your freedom.”
The son of #1 smooth jazz guitarist Tim Bowman, Bowman’s highly anticipated debut solo CD, Beautiful, releases on April 24, 2012. The thirteen-track set features guest appearances from Dorinda Clark Cole, Vickie Winans and a track produced by Marvin Winans Sr. Bowman, whose vocal influences range from Coldplay to Ella Fitzgerald, is poised to shake up the sacred music genre. His unique blend of rhythms would easily fit in on a Top 40 radio music playlist as it would in a Sunday morning church service.
