Starting on June 6, 2011, the Charlotte Area Transit System will operate extended service on the free Gold Rush Red Line to Presbyterian Hospital.

Red Line service will continue to operate in Center City Charlotte from 6:41 a.m. until just after 6:00 p.m. Service will now reach to Presbyterian Hospital on the east end to Johnson C. Smith University (JCSU) on the west end. Buses will run every fifteen minutes Monday – Friday.

Trips at Presbyterian Hospital, from 6:41 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. will run to Gateway Center, after 7:45 a.m., service will continue from the hospital to JCSU.

In other uptown transportation news, the NC Music Factory and Felix Sabates Mercedes-Benz of South Charlotte teamed to provied a free Uptown Charlotte Shuttle service called the “Entertainment Express”.

It runs continuous loops throughout the Uptown area, along Graham, Third and College Streets, focusing stops at bus stops on College Street and at the NC Music Factory. Uptown partiers can park once Thursday – Saturday nights and travel between Uptown’s entertainment hot spots.

The initial pick-up/drop-off locations are 4th and College Streets; and on College Street and Sixth Streets at the public bus stop next to the Holiday Inn Charlotte – Center City and again at the NC Music Factory fountain plaza. The shuttles will stop at each of these locations approximately every 15 minutes from 6:30 p.m. until 2:30 a.m. every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Other stops may be added.
