St. Patrick’s Day used to be one of my favorite holidays. I loved drinking green beer, wearing green clothes, pinching random people and proclaiming “Kiss me, I’m Irish!”

After all, Jameson is an Irish whiskey.

But the sobering reality is that this used to be a holy day. In the Huffington Post, Rev. James Martin reminds people about the saintliness of today. Patrick was enslaved in Ireland from the age of 16 to 20, yet after he escaped and became a priest, he still chose to return there to spread Christianity.
