The Charlotte City Council voted Monday to appoint Edwin Peacock III to the vacant District 6 seat, succeeding Tariq Bokhari, who stepped down to join the Trump administration. According to WBTV, the decision came after a 5-5 council deadlock, with Mayor Vi Lyles casting the tie-breaking vote between Peacock and Krista Bokhari. Peacock previously served as an at-large council member from 2007 to 2011 and was the Republican nominee for mayor in 2015. He is scheduled to be informally sworn in on Tuesday, May 20, with a formal ceremony planned for next month.
