High levels of lead have been detected at Northwest Cabarrus High School. Water samples from a visitor concession stand faucet and a kitchen handwash sink tested at 13.51 parts per billion and 39.52 parts per billion, respectively. According to WBTV, North Carolina’s state action level for lead is 10 parts per billion. Prolonged exposure to lead can cause learning difficulties, slowed growth and development, brain damage, and other health issues.
