Why is it so easy for us to believe that a friend will do what they promised. Or, that our boss will give us the raise they announced during our annual review. Or, our child when they say that they will not break curfew. Or, our spouse when they say their vows to us on our wedding day. What makes us take people at their word, even when though they are not perfect and have broken their word in the past? For whatever reason, we just flat out take them at their word to do what they said they would do.

Now, on the other hand, why is it so hard to believe that God will fulfill the promises He has shared with us? Why can’t we live daily with the same level of expectation, confidence and faith that God will do what He said He would do in our life? It would be no different then what we do with man when we trust them to stand by their word. Most of the time it isn’t like we are able to physically see man do what needs to be done in order for them to keep or act on whatever they promised us. We don’t see the preparation in the delivery of the promise. We just wait with expectation of getting the promise or the finished result. Right?

Well, again I ask, why is it so much easier for us to place faith and trust in man to keep their word, but we can’t believe God to do the same? Oh, and, by the way, God has never failed us or lied to us. On the contrary, He says that He would never leave us or forsake us. And, He hasn’t left us or forsaken us…we are alive, in our right mind, with the abilities of our limbs. Most of us woke up in comfort and had a destination to arrive at this morning. Most enjoyed a meal last night and probably by now have had a cup of coffee or tea.

But, didn’t your boy fail to do what he promised you last week? Didn’t your co-worker forget to pick you up for work the other day? Whatever didn’t happen with man is to be expected because man is not perfect….he will fail you, in some form or fashion.

But, God is able to do exceedingly, abundantly, above all you could ever ask or think…..God is not a man that He should lie…..God is the light of the world….God will always live up to His promises made to you.

So, with that….what has He promised you that you have lost faith about? Has He promised you something so long ago  that you’ve just stopped believing it will come to pass? Well, remember what I said earlier, you may not be able to see the preparation that takes place before you receive the promise. But, know that the preparation is going on. In knowing that God will never fail you, you should be able to walk in great expectation for the promise, while you wait.

On Resurrection Sunday (Easter) and at the end of most sermons, we are reminded of the greatest promise ever given by God…Jesus Christ. Jesus was born just to die for our sins and be resurrected for God’s glory….taking the sting out of death and in doing so PROMISING us a life after death that is everlasting and more than what we have here on earth and more than we deserve. Do you believe in that promise? If not, you need to ask God to enter your life in a new way, so that you can truly experience that promise.

Your life really doesn’t truly begin to be enjoyed to its fullness until you believe in the ultimate promise made by God of life everlasting. We are not promised tomorrow in our human form, but for those who believe and have accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord…the after life will be an everlasting joy that no man can explain, but one we should all look forward to seeing…since we will live in it WAY longer than we will live here.

Walk in faith. Live in love.
