President Donald Trump said today that his weekend tirade against athletes who kneel for the national anthem “has nothing to do with race.” He went on to say, “It’s about respect for our Country, Flag, and National Anthem.” More than 200 players knelt or sat during the national anthem in solidarity against Trump, who on Friday urged owners to fire players who declined to stand.
