If you’ve been keeping up with the latest news, you’re probably aware of the controversy surrounding ESPN’s Jemele Hill and her comments about Trump, referring to him as a white supremacist. Now, she has finally addressed the situation and took to her Twitter account to give her take on all that’s happened in the last few days.

Earlier this week ESPN anchor Jemele Hill found herself in hot water when she called Trump a white supremacist, which he is, and was met with a barrage of criticism and faux outrage. ESPN proved they didn’t have her back in the matter when the sports network released a statement distancing itself from her and her comments.

Then White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee got involved and said that Hill’s comments were “a fireable offense.” Trump supporters rallied on social media and called for Hill to be permanently removed from ESPN, however Hill’s many supporters (including Colin Kaepernick) have rallied behind her and her comments. Finally, Hill decided to address the situation in her own words, taking to her Twitter account in an attempt to set the record straight.

At press time, it doesn’t appear that ESPN is going to fire Hill, as the network said they accept her apology, although they did not appreciate that she “implies that she was in any way speaking on behalf of ESPN, but she has a right to her personal opinions.” Honestly, Hill was just using her platform to bring to light just one of the many issues that many have with Trump and his administration. We salute her bravery.
