The NAACP has issued its first-ever travel advisory for a state. The organization is warning that discriminatory and racist practices in Missouri make it dangerous for people of color to visit. The civil rights group also highlights recent legislation, The “Jim Crow Law”, that has made discrimination suits harder to win, particularly with regard to employment or housing. The new law activates on August 28, and will require that discrimination claims prove that race, gender or religion are “motivating” rather than “contributing” factors for discrimination. Signed into law by Gov. Eric Greitens who maintains that it was a needed reform.
