Actor Craig Robinson unveiled his comedic and singing chops at his performance at the Comedy Zone on Friday. In a show that was part ad lib and part comedic karaoke, Robinson kept fans at the Comedy Zone both laughing and baffled.
Robinson is known for his roles as Darryl Philbin on the TV show “The Office” and the movies such as “Hot Tub Time Machine” and “Pineapple Express.” Everyone in the first few rows were fair game for Robinson’s jokes during his show. There was a guy named Fingers and another guy that Robinson teased for being a big guy, which was funny considering that Robinson is also big.
The second half of the show featured Robinson played keyboard and encouraged the audience to sing along to a variety of songs from Earth, Wind and Fire to K-Ci & JoJo. And that’s when things got really funny. The audience was predominately white and young. The young white fans knew all of the old school rock songs and the ’90s R&B, but nearly everyone was nearly lost when Robinson played EWF’s “Reasons” and referenced Barry White. The blank audience’s looks cracked me up more than Robinson.
