Katy Perry has won her court battle to buy a former hilltop convent for $14.5 million from the Los Angeles archdiocese. The contest was between Perry and a Catholic order of nuns that had collectively purchased the convent at a discounted rate from a benefactor decades ago.  The sisters maintain that they were told by Archbishop Jose Gomez they could decide who to sell the property to and struck a $15.5 million deal with restaurateur Dana Hollister to purchase the property.  However, Gomez had agreed to sell the property to Perry for $14.5 million.

Wednesday, a Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge ruled the nuns’ attempt to sell the property to Hollister void, jeopardizing any financial benefit from the sale which was to help cover their living expenses.

Perry says she wants to purchase the property to live with her mother and grandmother and “sit in the meditation garden, sip green tea and find herself,” according to the Los Angeles Times.
