So among the messages sent last night, First Lady Michelle Obama was may be sending some of her own.  Perhaps she has a sunny disposition as her family prepares to exit the White House. In a gorgeously simple Narciso Rodriguez sheath,  the color – marigold,  was the boldest and brightest that I can remember a first lady wearing. The dress was originally priced at $2,095 on NeimanMarcus.com, then “reduced” to $628, sold out immediately. No doubt marigold is now in the fashion forecast for the spring.

The designer, a Cuban-American, perhaps a nod to the revitalization diplomatic engagement between the countries that is part of her husband’s legacy.

Another interesting note, it was noted that there was an empty seat next to Mrs. Obama.  Tradition dictates that every member of Congress is allowed to bring one guest, and the president and first lady can sit 24 guests in their box.  The seat next to FLOTUS was left empty to symbolise the victims of US gun violence.
