A Kentucky county clerk continues to refuse same-sex couples “under God’s authority”, despite being ordered to do so.  The high court ruled against Rowan County Clerk, Kim Davis in her appeal to refuse issuing same-sex marriage licenses based on her Christian convictions. She had turned away couples in the days following the U.S. Supreme Court decision that legalized gay marriage. Four couples – two gay and two straight couples subsequently sued her and a federal judge ordered her to begin issuing the licenses. An appeals court upheld that decision and Davis’s lawyer filed a final appeal to the Supreme Court on Friday. Davis has said, “I’m willing to face my consequences as you all will face your consequences when it comes time for judgment.”
