Black Unemployment Falls Below 10%

For the first time since 2007, the unemployment rate for African Americans has fallen below 10 percent. Though this is “promising” the number is still twice the national average and more than two times the rate for whites. Research indicates that discrimination plays a role in the disparity, with black applicants not getting called back for interviews as often as white Americans.
